From the Superintendent
Excitement is certainly in the air! The start of a new year is always magic; and when we open a new building, it is magnified--new bus drops, new parking flow, and a hundred more things we have not thought about. During the summer we refinished and updated the track and constructed a new animal science facility. We are very fortunate! These facilities are a tribute to the foresight of our school trustees and the taxpayers of our district.
During stressful economic times, however, school districts face the same budget problems that we all face at home--increased fuel, food, and utilities prices without an increase in revenue. The state has limited our revenue per student to the 2006 school year amount. We will have a balanced budget this year and maintain as many of our programs as we possibly can. I have stressed to our staff members that the community faces the same economic issues as we do, and we will not ask the public for contributions or more fund raisers.
Let me close by saying thank you so much for allowing us to work with your children. I pray that we never forget that they are the sole reason Lone Oak ISD exists! Eddie White
